About Carnew Golf Society
With such talented golfers residing in Carnew and it’s surrounding area, it was inevitable that a golfing society would be formed. Members of the Society include Men and Women golfers with 6/7 outings taking place each year on St Stephens Day, February, March, April, September and October(Captains Day). The outings take place outside of the summer months which ensures that society members keep their game sharp all year round. A presentation of prizes takes place each night after an outing in Jim’s except for after the Captains outing which includes music and dance. Friends of the Carnew Society including Jim’s regulars also support the society and any functions organised.
A number of years ago, a certain member of the society was delighted to win the longest drive competition. The only problem was that this was awarded due to the fact that instead of driving to Killerig Golf Club, he drove to Kilkee Castle in Kildare. A fine drive indeed!
