Cousins, Greene, McEntaggart Master Tough Conditions
At this time of year, there are those who mark the end of one year with the beginning of another with a swim in the ocean. Twenty one hardy golfers from Carnew endured our own hardship playing in Ballymoney in near impossible stormy conditions.
The three amigos above scrambled around with a commendable score of 61.4. You will note Ian’s fresh air shot on the left. Hope he improves before Coollattin drive-in! The incoming captain, Paudge Cullen assisted by Tom Wilkinson, Joe Kenny and Bartley Turner were edged into 2nd place on 61.5 with Ted Kennedy, Alan Nolan, Brian Doran and Aidan Travers just one tenth back in 3rd place on 61.6.
The first captain of the society back in the year 2000 was presented with honoury membership of the society. Congrats to Jim Byrne (right) on this well earned distinction.
The society will start the new year with a visit to Blainroe on Saturday 25th January. Membership subs are now due and Chappy Cousins will be happy to relieve you of 40 euro.
Happy new year and hope to see you back out on the fairways in 2014!
