Hurricane Deegan Romps Home in Stormy Conditions

Peter DeeganWinner Alright! Winner Alright!

There was no one who could get near the 37 points total of the former bookie. Like Hurricane Fly when the challengers got near he pulled away again for a cosy victory.

Bolger, Clinton and Wilkinson all had 32 points with Bolger taking 2nd place on the count back to leave the other two filling the places in Category 1.

Despite a bad back but with the aid of performance enhancing drugs, Mc Lellan won category 2. You will recall another ‘Ben’ being labelled a drug cheat but our ‘Ben’ assured us that his drugs were on the prescribed list. Despite a plummeting handicap and an injury scare during the week, Mick Shortall continued his run of good form with 2nd in Category 2. Our society was always regarded as clean but there may now be calls for mandatory testing.

Aidan Travers was clean and won category 3 ahead of Pat Mc Crea who will be looking forward to our next outing to his back yard in Courtown next month. The ‘Wexford Swing’ will then move to Bunclody in March where Mc Lellan will also fancy his chances.

The difficult conditions must have contributed to the fact that no ‘2’ appeared on the 20 score cards with the fund now rolling over to Courtown.
